I know it's not good to use a debit card online, but I can also use my debit card just like a credit card, would it still be bad to use it online in that case?
I use my debit card online ti order stuff all the time its the same process just make sure its a secure site and you should be fine
Debit cards are not the same as credit cards. Unless it's MasterCard, VISA, AmEx, etc, then you can't use a debit card online the same as a credit card.
If the website has all its certificates and there are no security threats, it should be safe to use your debit. I know that many sites have Interac as payment so it should be fine. if the site asks for your PIN number at any time, don't give it to them.
The reason why they warn to not use your debit card online is that it doesn't have the same protection that a credit card does. With a credit card you can dispute the charge, and won't have to pay on it until the dispute is resolved. whereas, when using a debit card (EVEN if you run it as a credit transaction) the money is immediately taken from your bank account and you will be OUT that money while going through the dispute process if something goes awry.
