Send Money Online Easily With Several Options

Wells Fargo is just one bank that has realized the increased need for people to send money online, typically to relatives still in their home country. The easier and cheaper their choices, the more likely consumers will choose this bank to send money. Wells Fargo's ExpressSend service has existed since 2007, but recently got even easier to work with. Customers with certain accounts, whether checking or savings, will get the benefit of having remittance fees either waived completely or highly discounted. Representatives say that money sent to Guatemala, Mexico, and El Salvador can be received the same day it is sent, while money going to India, Vietnam, China, and the Philippines will be received the next business day.

Another bank that works well with remittances is Citibank, which boasts Citi Online Remit. This program allows Non Resident Indians, or NRIs, to send money online to India easily. They can send money directly to their recipient's bank account from any US checking or savings account, or use their debit card to do so. Eventually, branches of Citibank in other countries will offer the same service to Indians due to the success of the program so far in the United States.

If you don't want to deal with a bank to send money online, one of the most popular methods of remitting to other countries is the prepaid debit card. Though it works like a bank debit card, it is not connected with a bank at all, but an independent company. You can simply send a debit card to your relatives in another country, and once they have received it, give them their PIN separately over the phone for security reasons. You can then add money to it at anytime.

This is a popular option for those trying to avoid fees as much as possible. Though several banks clearly offer great programs for sending money online, they typically either require you to have a particular account, or charge fees depending on the amount of money. Clearly, if you need to send a lot of money at once or even just frequently, the fees can add up. A prepaid debit card costs $5 to add money either online or by phone, no matter the amount. Your recipient will also experience convenience in that each transaction, such as at the store, costs less than a dollar. Getting cash out of the ATM in their country costs only a few dollars, which is quite reasonable given the ease with which the card was received and can be used.

If the ability to send money online is important to you, there are plenty of options. Many involve a bank, but if you don't want to go through one, or perhaps don't have an account, a prepaid debit card might be your best bet. You can even pay for the transaction using a credit card, which is good if you don't have a bank account. No matter your situation, you can find a way to send money online to relatives.
