Can the debit card that comes with the chase checking acct be used like a credit card? I noticed the card does not have the visa or mastercard logo.

A Chase Debit card is entirely different from a real credit card. Chase Debit cards have the option to pay with "credit" instead of "debit" but it still comes entirely out of your bank account. The "credit" option basically goes like this; if I go to a store and buy something with credit, the store charges the bank, then the bank charges my account. If I selected the "debit" option, the store would directly take the money out of my bank account, with no connection to the bank at all. Banks generally ask you to use credit for their Rewards Program, etc.

Paying with debit takes the money out of your account immediately, while credit generally takes 1-2 days to post on your account. I know Chase does have account protection when using credit, though. For example, if I charge something I know I don't have the funds for in my account but I do have the cash, I can charge it with credit and deposit the money the same day, then there will be no Overdraft Fees. Be sure to contact your local Chase bank or a representative to be enrolled in it, though.

Lastly, most Chase Debit Cards do have a credit option. It should have either the Visa or MasterCard logo in the front bottom-right corner of your card. I hope I helped.
